Office Installation
I am trying to install Office 2010 home and student on my computer. The problem Im having is when it gets to about 50% a message comes up saying "Setup cannot find setup.exe. Browse to a valid installation source and click ok"
I try clicking the DVD drive the disc is in but it does nothing. I have read that sometimes after uninstalling previous versions of office on your computer that some files are left over and to fix this problem these files need to be removed from the registry. Does anyone know how to do this? I was told to install revo uninstaller and use that however it kinda just looks like add remove programs and office is not there to uninstall. Any help on how to remove all office related files from my registry would be good. |

How to manually uninstall the 2007 Office system if you cannot uninstall it by using the "Add or Remove Programs" feature Yeh that happens with some other software also, but usually the left over files are there for a path to reinstall. Now I have had an issue with some software that gets mucked up in the registry and then a seach under its brand name can be done. But because your having an issue with Office(a Microsoft product) finding all references to just office is going to be a PITA. Maybe that link will help if you were using 2007. You best bet would be to try ccleaner first: Piriform - Download CCleaner, Defraggler, Recuva, Speccy - Millions of users worldwide! I think it's got the best registry fixer available. Use the defaults and run the base program first. This cleans up some basic stuff and just helps keep your PC a little less cluttered with excess files. After you've done that, select the registry tab from the left column and do a search for errors. When it's done, you will be asked if you want to fix one or all the errors. Telll it to fix all. You will then be given an opportunity to make a backup of your system before the change happens, I always let it make the backup-but have never had to use it. After ccleaner has done it's thing. Restart and try installing Office.
