Best video converter/splitter
That is basically all I need, the ability to convert from about any file type, and to be able to split the video. I have had soooo much trouble finding any program that can do all of that. There is always some problem, whether it is due to the high quality of a video, or a file type. I have tried a good number of programs including VLC and Virtual Dub. Any suggestions?

I've never used it but at least 4 "video crazies" I know of do. Handbrake has expanded it's conversion features so you may want to check that out as well. The earlier versions wouldn't have been suitable but the current one might work for you.

I hope I am not wasting your time here. HJ Split is the best splitting/joing software Ive used. CAN it convert? I'm not sure, check here.;
HJSplit: free file splitting software for Windows, Linux and other platforms U may need 2 apps. Yeah, I know, who wants two apps. As far as a converter / burner. I would go with ConvertXtoDVD - AVI to DVD Video Converter to burn on DVD ---screw Nero, or even Augustus.
