1080p with Fraps?

Hey guys, my name is Sylinic, and I make YouTube videos.

However, i'm trying to make the transition from 720 to 1080p on my videos to increase the quality, aswell as revamping other aspects of my channel.

So I've researched it and I have Vegas 10 premium all set to render in 1080, but I was thinking, wouldn't that not matter as the original Fraps footage be 720?

I thought it wouldn't work if the original work wasn't of quality. I'm sorry for my ignorance in the area, and a HUGE ty in advance for anyone who could help me with my predicament.

Your thinking is correct. For any end product, the resolution is only as high as the resolution of the original source no matter how much you increase the resolution of the end product. There are some artificial means of sharpening an image that make an educated guess but they are not all that effective. It's not like having a product that was sharper to begin with.

I would go ahead and try converting some of the images to 1080 and see how they look, just out of curiosity and for the learning experience.

The higher the resolution you put on Youtube, the harder it's going to be for people to get a smooth stream. I'm on 3 meg DSL and I can't stream 1080p without constant rebuffering.

Well, I mean it'll have 240, 360, 480, 720(HD), and 1080(HD) options, it's not exclusive to having to be 1080, but do you guys know of any programs that can cap in alot higher quality?

Not above 1080. If there was, I don't know why you would want to go above what the vast majority of peoples monitors, graphics cards or internet connections are capable of. Your audience would be very small, if existent at all.

Nononononono.

I didn't mean above 1080, I meant in 1080.

Aswell, it seems you guys are misunderstanding me. If I upload in 1080, YouTube will give options for SD and 720 aswell, 1080 is just nice to have because it makes you stand out from the regular commentators, gives you an edge.

What I wanted was a 1080 capping program, sorry for any confusion.

Do you know of any?

Sorry, I don't. My next step would be a Google search.
