WLM 2011 on Win 7

Hi, got new pc witn Windows 7 home and it comes with Windows live 2011 pre installed.
I'll be kind and just say that it sucks.

How can I un-install this and put an earlier version of Windows Messenger on the computer.

I don't need all the bells and whistles, just want a good chat program.

Ok, I got rid of MSN WLM and tried Trilian. Didn't care for it as it seemed a bit awkward.
Downloaded Pidgin and it was easy to set up, clean, efficient little chat program without all the MSN crap.

My only dislike thus far is that I can't seem to find a way to change the font size, color, or style.

Is there a way to do this?
