MSN Msgr live 2011 or Window 7

Hello, I don't know if this is a MSN uninstall or a Windows 7 problem. Hope to find some help here.

A friend of mine had a windows 7 pc about two months old and installed the latest version of MSN Messenger Live and hated it.

I attempted to uninstall it and all appeared to go well and then install version 8.5.

The install stopped and stated that I had a newer version and had to remove it.
Since I had already done that, I did a all files and folders search and found nothing. I then checked the folders manually in Windows explorer and still nothing.

Tried the install again and got the same message. What next?

They are using aMSN now and it works pretty good but lacks the ability to send off line messages to contacts.

You probably have artifacts left in the registry. Try running ccleaner first, along with ccleaner's registry fixer second. Then try installing the version of messenger you want.

Thank you. I ran the CCleaner probram yesterday and yielded the same results.
When I try to install MSN version 2009, I get the message that a new version is already installed.

I did get aMSN running and that may be just as good.

Would sure like to resolve this little puzzle though.

Well drat, aMSN has some issues as well.

Got the latest version 98.4 install and all looks super except.

a) I send a message to someone who is "off-line" and it asks if I want to send it, blah blah blah, I say yes and hit the enter key. It tells me the message was sent and that the recipient will get it when they sign on.
It don't happen. They don't get the message.

b) I am always shown as "off-line" I went in and checked the "on-line" to my status but it still shows me as off line.

Any suggestions ???

Thanks all.

I use Digsby to manage my instant messaging. I don't have MSN, but I use it for AIM and ICQ.

Isn't the installer supposed to automatically check on the internet for any newer versions? That's maybe why it's refusing to install.
