Wi-fi disconnects every five minutes or so

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 Laptop and a TP Link TL-WR841N Router.
I connect using the Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility, which shows a full signal but since getting this router a few months back, approximately every 3-5 minutes the wi-fi disconnects. I know it's still getting the signal because when I immediately check the available connections it's right there and when I click connect it reconnects right away. I don't think it's a problem with the laptop cuz I've had it for several years and never had this problem with any other router, and I don't think it's the router cuz I have another laptop connected to it that has no problem. Wireless channel is at 11 (changed it to 6 and then back, didn't change anything either way). I deactived the Utility as my default wi-fi manager, and tried letting windows do it instead, but that was worse, cuz even though it said connected, the status was perpetually at "Acquiring network address", so I don't know if that's a related problem or a different one. Anyway, how do I go about fixing this?

Are there any updates for the Dell wireless utility?

If you installed the Dell tray app for enabling/disabling the wireless, uninstall it.

I'm having the same issues with a Tenda wireless N router.
Very annoying.
