best free sync program?

I have read and read about alot of these but i need to hear from the folks in here as to what the best one out there is. I used synkron for a bit and it worked fine but after a few days of using it is when i started to get the ntldr error and had to format my HD. i dont know if it was due to synkron or not but it was the only thing out of the ordinary i was doing..

A back-up is only a one-way transfer while a sync is a two-way transfer between both destinations.

ahh ok great explanation.
I wonder why syncback failed on me? I have some folders in the source that arent in the destination but that shouldnt matter right? it does create folders and sub folders right?

Synkron worked great but i dont know if it killed my pc or not so im afraid to use it.

I've been using Microsoft's SyncToy successfully for a couple of years now.

I take work home on a USB flash drive and use SyncToy to keep my work files in sync.

I also use it to sync my Android phone to a backup directory on my PC.

It doesn't *have* to be. You can specify one-way transfers.

Are your files for Drop Box stored "locally" ?

maybe its to far down the directory tree? c:\docssetting\me\my docs\dropbox\folderthatwontsync

it seems to sync the files that are in the "dropbox" directory but not any further than that?

i really like synctoy tho it is real basic and easy to understand. synkron kinda leaves you guessing at what to do and sync back failed the first try. could be pilot error tho.
