How do I convert a PowerPoint file to PDS and then edit?
I have a PowerPoint 2007 file, which contains a picture with text. I want to edit the text and then print off flyers/leaflets from this.
In order to do so, I converted the PowerPoint file to a PDS file. Then I tried to edit the text using Acrobat X Pro. The editing tool did not work. Could you please advise me on the best way of doing what I'm trying to do. My own software is MS Office 2010 Home and Business. Last edited by donaldfleming; 11-24-2011 at 05:27 PM. |

Do you mean a PDF file or PPS file?
You will not be able to edit either. You will need to go back to the original PPT or PPTX file.

I mean a PDF file. The name of the file is 'Candlelit invite.pdf'
I also tried to edit the PowerPoint file. I looked up instructions on the internet. But the instructions didn't seem to correspond to the layout of my tool bar. Possibly, because I was working on a PowerPoint 2007 file with MS Office 2010. I'm not certain. What do you reckon is the best way to proceed? Last edited by donaldfleming; 11-24-2011 at 07:26 PM. |

Acrobat is not like Word in which you can just select text or elements and replace them. It's best to do all your editing in the source application.
What options did you choose when saving to PDF using Powerpoint?

I am working on a PPTX file. And I've just noticed that it is read-only.
Re read-only, is there any way I can render this capable of editing? Re options used when I converted the PPTX file to Adobe. I think that I saved it as PDS. |

Not in Acrobat, no. You have to enable editing when saving it in the source application. Hence my question about the options Powerpoint gives you. Are you using Microsoft's own 'convert to PDF' or Acrobat X's plug-in for Office?

Close the PowerPoint application. Right click on your PPTX file, and on the "general" tab, uncheck "read-only". Click apply and ok.
