SSD o/s image restore - alignment

I plan to restore a cloned image of my operating system. I've done this many times from HDD back to HDD, but this time will be the first time going from SSD to (the same) SSD.

I have read a lot about how SSDs need to be properly 'aligned' and my cloning software (Clonezilla) does not include such functionality.

I have done some research on the web and the Paragon Alignment Tool seems to be cited quite a lot... I would really value any experiences from folks that have used this software - how well does it work?

Can anybody recommend a (relatively) straight-forward proven freeware alternative?

Many thanks for any comments / advice.

There is an on going discussion of how to do this over at the Acronis forum : URGENT: New Intel SSD - how to clone/restore/migrate using ATH 2011? | Knowledge Base

Since Acronis is the only back up tool I use I can't advise you about the Paragon Alignment Tool.

I bought the Paragon alignment tool on sale for $18 and used it when I cloned an HDD to SSD. The alignment tool reported that the SSD was already properly aligned so I can't really say if it worked well or not.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have had a look at the Acronis software - seems too complicated for me!

I am quite happy with the clone / restore software I have, and am looking for a dedicated 'alignment checker' that other esteemed PC Mech'ers have used and are happy with.

I may just take the plunge and do a restore using Clonezilla and see what happens - what's the worst that can go wrong - another few tens of hours of my life disappears reinstalling windows & apps!

Cheers
