fsx apphangbn

Hi all, i was getting this message while on FSX. i would happen at random times. i did a clean install and it went away for a couple months, now it seems to have come back. so i did another clean install, so far its been ok but im just looking for some more suggestions incase i see it again. the strange thing is that it will freeze for about 5-8 mins then it will come back, so i do not have to close out this sim and lose all my progress. I do have the latest drivers for my card, the latest directx, the latest service packs for fsx. i am not using any addons such as Real environment or ultimate traffice...ect. im not running anything in the background eccept for google chrome when browsing online during flights. sometimes watching youtube, but other than that its not like im playing another game or anything like that. i will post a couple photos of the task manager mabey someone sees something that i dont that could be a cause.

pc specs:

windows 7 home premium 64bit

intel i 5 2400 3.10ghz

ati hd radeon 5670

4gb ddr3 ram

It is mostly related to add-ons : Windows Explorer 7 is not responding - 'apphangb1 - Microsoft Answers

And you are running Chrome.
From your description something was added to your browser that you didn't know about.

Edit : FSX has had a number of add-ons are you sure you're not triggering one ?

OK that's a module of the sim.
First you go looking for patches and updates and make sure your Windows install is updated, this isn't drivers so that's not your problem.

all up to date with everything, seems like there is more to this problem than just FSX now, i see i got a simaler type message when running my directv2pc program. also i can't install the online client squawkbox, im really wondering if i should reload windows.

Do you know anyone who can "lend" you a video card?
It looks like you're in for a hardware elimination hunt and we'll start there.

While your waiting on the video card run chkdsk on your hard drive : Using Windows 7, how do I run CHKDSK? - Microsoft Answers

And then do a memory check : Diagnosing memory problems on your computer

Neither of these absolves you from doing the manufacturer's check on the HD later or running memtest but both can tell you about problems before you start anything major.

They're on the high side but shouldn't be crashing you unless they're spiking and not showing in the screen shot.
So we're back to the graphics card and the game install (You've got all patches and updates for the game?).

You can't assume that, run the HD manufacturer's diagnostic.

Pam is suggesting you run the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostic, not chkdsk.

to be honest guys i don't know the exact model hd i have, if there is a way to check, let me know, heres another one, this time on firefox, so its not fsx or any thing within fsx, gotta ram or video card, but all i was doing is web browsing, there is no way its overheating cause the pc runs fast.
