What is the best, easiest way to make a looping slide show that I can burn to a cd and play on a dvd player?

This is popular and free : Slideshow Maker, Free Online Slideshows, Edit Photos
One warning, the guys who use this do family vacation disks, if you have something more involved in mind this won't do it.

Nope, not really. I just need something I can put on during an event for instance to rotate through photos indefinitely.

Irfanview (free) can do it too.
However - burning a CD that will do a looping slideshow in a settop DVD player is another story. You would be better off using a laptop and connect it to the TV or whatever you are showing it on. |

Many years ago , I used 'Ulead Movie Factory 6' to make really neat slideshows and can be burned in CD and play on T.V. It was quite neat nice, adding nice audio music in the background, makeing special effects and etc.
Though need a fast PC to run the processing . |

My sister and sis-in-law in one night, being rushed, gathered alot of pics of my deceased brother, put them on a CD, and it streamed. At his visitation, the funeral home put it on their equipment and screen and it did exactly that. Amazing stuff and I never asked them any details. They're obviously good at that stuff.
