Trouble with WD Acronis
Hey all.
I am trying to use Western Digital's Acronis software to image an internal WD1600AAJS-75PSAO drive onto a new WD My Passport external drive. The software does not see the internal drive or the external one either, so it won't install for me. The pc is running XP Pro 32bit. Any ideas on how to make this work with resorting to buying the full-blown Acronis program? Thanks in advance.

Can you even get the software to install? If you can, try making the bootable media.

Nah it fails to see a WD drive anywhere and won't go any further.

Are you sure you got the right download : WD Support / Downloads / Select Product
I know it sounds crazy but it does happen.

Pretty certain I grabbed the correct software.
The WD Passport software that came with the back up drive installs and runs, but will not image an entire drive. I downloaded the WD Acronis software package for the internal WD drive I have and this is the Acronis that won't install properly. I just re-checked that download and it appears to be the correct one. I used the internal drive model number I currently have, and the WD site spec'd the same download I am already having trouble with. That download is labeled "tih_s_e_14192.exe". **EDIT**: I ran WD Data lifeguard, and it sees both the internal and external drives properly. Last edited by pally01; 07-12-2012 at 12:13 PM. |

The problem may not be on your end; time to email support at WD.

If this is for a "one time" use - the free trial of ATI 2012 Home works for 30 days, and will create and restore an image.

Hmmmm. Well I have to do something. Not having this drive imaged will be bad if/when it crashes.
I'll email WD and see what they say. I've no idea how long it typically takes for them to reply but I'll give it a shot. GLC do you have a link for that ATI software? I guess if worst comes to worst, I can pull the internal and take it home. I can image it from there but that's a bit of a p.i.t.a. |

Thanks G. Didn't realize Acronis and ATI are one-and-the-same. Thought you pointed out something different. Appreciated.
