im currently using musicmatch jukebox. ive heard that winamp and others are also good programs. im looking for a program thats easy to use(like jukebox), but has a better way of organizing songs. I have like 600 songs, and itd be a lot easier for me if i could sort them by genre, and then by artist. jukebox lists all the songs as a big list once you click on the genre, id like to just have it list the artists, and then i click again to see that artists songs. If it had cool skins thatd be nice too, although im sure every program has a bunch of skins if i looked around enough.

My prefs are:
-Windows Media Player -WinAmp Never will install Real Player. To organize songs- I do it myself: organize in folders/windows file names and edit mp3 files- artist/song title, etc the way I want. |

Another vote for WinAmp, organized with folders.

Winamp, just like the Dr. above...organized
![]() I also use a little player called SimpleMP3. Puts an icon in the systray, has playlists, lots of stuff, and it's REALLY tiny...get it at: http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/stori...,75402,00.html |

I find that organizing songs in folders really gets in the way. With Winamp you put all your files in one folder and organize them with playlists. Playlists are much easier to make with only one folder to worry about.

I agree. I only have three folders and many playlists.
In past days I sold a 40 GB HD to a customer and while installing it I found out that he organizes his songs in folders. It was a pain searching for a specific song. And the sight of so many folders gave a headache. |

Been using winamp for along and never had any major problems with it. Has anybody tried the winamp 3 BETA yet? If so, what do you think of it? TIA.

I tried winamp 3 beta on a win2k mchine, played fine, but I was so used to my "skin" and knowing where everyhting was at, the new beta kind of threw me off. I like ripping with musicmatch and playing with winamp. :P

WinAmp is the only player I use, I don't care for Winders Media Player.

I use winamp for listening to music, music match for ripping mp3s, and windows media player for watching movies.

My 2c worth...
For what it's worth, I got frustrated w/ WinAmp playing stuff choppily. Switched to UltraPlayer and have never looked back.

Winamp, has always been good to me! I am not really into music but Winamp always does the trick. I generally like to stay away from media player.

I shiver at the thought of Windows Media Player. It was fine up until version 7 I believe, then they decided to make it idiot proof. I have seen too many programs go that route. They add more and more features and the damned program becomes a music playing, meeting scheduling, stock ticking, emailing calculator; all in one. Even operating systems have become like this: WindowsXP.
I started using WinAmp because it was really the only reputable program out there that played MP3s way back when nobody had ever heard of an MP3 and most people had still not found the internet. Ah, the good old days. :) And, more importantly, it really has not changed. They added that mini web browser or whatever it is that you can disable, but the essence of the program hardly changes. Why mess with perfection? Respectfully, Demosthenes |
