Video software
Ok, after spending the weekend using the trial version of ULead's Video Studio, I have to say I'm suprised at it's limits. It only has one video and audio track and does not support realtime playback.
I'm starting to look at Adobe Premier, but would like to know if someone has used other programs that they would recommend (same price or less). I don't want to have a full audio mixing studio, but I would like to be able to use multiple tracks. Also, if I go for Premier, I might as well get it packaged with a Pinnacle DV200. I plan to upgrade to a digital camera at some point. Thanks. |

Premiere is a great product -- I love it and have used it for years. A capable new product from Sonic Foundry called Video Factory looks quite good and can be had for under $100.00 via their web site.

I ordered the package from Sonic Foundry last week. They have a special going $57.00 or $59.00 for Video Factory 2.0.

Thanks.
I just downloaded the trial version of Video Factory. It looks like it will do what I want. I'll try it tonight and let you know how it goes. I'll probably end up with Premier eventually, but with the holiday season just past, greenbacks are at a premium! |

Found out something interesting about Video Factory. It only works under 98SE. They say it will not work with the first edition, no matter how many updates/patches are installed.
I've never seen this before. I don't have the $ for 2000 yet so ended up ordering a 98SE update disk. |

I use Ulead's Media Studio Pro 6 and I'm quite pleased with it. A good friend of mine Uses Premier, and although he is happy with it, he has expressed that if he was aware of Media Studio Pro, he would have bought that one mainly because of all the goodies that come free with it, and he had to spend a lot more because these goodies are addons that you have to pay for with Premier.
We have not done any comparisons like which one is faster, so I can't help there. HTH TwoRails |

Media Studio does not hold a candle to Premiere -- Premiere is a professional product, Media Studio is a wannabe. Sure it comes with some cute addons, but I can combine Premiere with After Effects and have twice what Media Studio offers.
I used Media Studio on one small project before I had a second license for Premiere -- that client has never hired me since because of poor quality. ULead products aren't bad, but are not professional at all. -Craig |
