coverting 8 bit to 16 bit wav files

I have some wav files that are 8 bit and would like to know if I can covert them to 16 bit. It's for a game nascar 2002. thanks

lol ok I'm losted again I have a file that (ms dos name is gsye.wav) ok I another file thats name gsye~1.wav now how do I change gsye~1.wav to just gsye.wav thanks
