software for VCD slideshows?

Who can tell me where I can find software (freeware/shareware) for turning my digital images into slideshows to be viewed on my television? Also, the ability to add music or narrations would be a plus. Thanks for any tips you have for me. Oh, Roxio is always trying to get me to upgrade to the Platinum Easy CD Creator 5.1 and it does everything I want. Is it worth the the $50 US that they want for it?

Nero 5.5 - just make a video cd, but add your photos instead of movies. They will play back in most new settop DVD players. It's not freeware, but it works well. When you add the photos you can set the properties for them for the amount of time before the next comes up. And you can add titles.

Take VCDeasy

www.vcdeasy.org

It's freeware and a good VCD/SVCD authoring tool.
