iexplore.exe error

I have a problem in my computers which run windows NT & Win2000 professional. "An application error has occured and an application error log is being generated.
iexplore.exe or explorer.exe
Exception: access violation (0xc0000005).
Address: 0x77f32457".
Then it closes all the programs and freezes the keyboard and mouse. Even if one is sending emails it closes the programs. Its really painful for me coz sometimes i might have typed a full page email and it disappears. What could be the problem?

it could mean that the application which produces the error or tries to access another file or program is in use so it can't write to this - "file or Program" it also could mean that you have not enough rights to do what you do..

And last did you scan your computer against viruses?

Even when I scan for virus. It does not finish the scanning and gives the error navwnnt.exe error has occured. you may need to reinstall Norton Antivirus again. Basically any program I try to access it gives an error on the .exe of that program. Then it would say " damping physical memory" and it restarts by itself.
