Free-ware DVD-player?

I was wandering if anyone knows of a free DVD-player?

TIA, Logan

Some DVD's come with a program on the disk. They are pretty basic.

Hi Logan,

If you have an ATI video card, it comes with a good DVD player program along with it's Multimedia Center software.

I see you have a GeForce 3. Often there is PowerDVD bundled with cards with nvidia chipsets. Just search for it on the CD, you should find it (maybe some cards ship with another player than PowerDVD).

I'm not sure if 2K has it or not, but in WinME, you type DVDPLAY in the Run box and get a half decent player. In XP, doing that gets you Media Player.

When I put the DVD in the drive it tells me there is not Win2K compatiable DVD decoder on the PC. The visontek CD apparently doesn't come with any extra software(it has the drivers than GF3 demos, total of 310MB). WinDVD wanted me to pay (even for a 30-day trail) to see more than the first 5min .

The Matrix has a player app on the disk, should be pretty easy to find and give a try.

Good luck - using the MSI G3Ti player myself

Thumbs up This one is free....

The Interactual DVD player will install itself from any New Line Cinema DVD. So, should you happen to rent a copy of Harry Potter or Fellowship of the Rings, the DVD player will come right along with it. It will also register you over the net, if you find that a good idea.

I'm not sure of this but I think you may be able to download the latest Interactual player at www.interactual.com . I think it's a combination new player and update but I'm not sure if you need their player already installed.

www.maximusdvd.com

I didn't care much for it but I know several people that use it and they are happy with it. The new version of Windows Media Player for XP plays DVDs well but I haven't tried it with 2000.

I have the ATI multimedia and the dvd playback is excellent but I have tried the Interactual and it will do the job.
Like you it's not my first choice but it's decent and it's free.

Logan... didn't I tell you this one already? You're hunting for something that is already installed by default.

Hal-I listened. If I remember correctly, that didn't want to work.

Freeware DVD players are hard to find - apparently they haf to pay licensing fee to the MPEG powers-that-be. You can use Zoom Player if you have some codecs from WinDVD etc installed. Doesn't help much I know
