eps conversion

Hi guys

I have been trying to convert thousands of illustrator 10 eps's to illustrator 7 eps's I am doing them in batches of 100 or less. I am using Illustrator 10's batch function to open save and close the graphics - this works however it always crashes either complaining about not enough memory or not being able to parse files.

Now I can't believe there is not enough memory because I have run this process on everything from a lowly 450 with 128 meg to a dual processor beast with 1gb of RAM and it still crashes at random points.

does anyone know how to fix this or know of another conversion utility that allows you to do this without problems?
