CuteFTP
My trial license for CuteFTP for Windows expired, and I hate paying for software. I payed for Windows, that should be enough. Anyway, I found an open source program, "Filezilla", which closely approximates CuteFTP, without the disgusting advertisements and/or buy me buttons.
But, I was wondering, if by some chance, there were some recommendations for open source FTP software for Win32. Most preferrably a close port to Cute; I have used Cute since version 1.something and am kind of fond of it. Note: I do not need links; I do not have time to download and install every program, but would prefer user input. Respectfully, Demosthenes |

I use Bulletproof, but it's not free or open source. The only freebie that I am really familiar with is WS-FTP LE, it's adequate but certainly not on the same level as Cute.

Definitely take a look at SmartFTP, best FTP client IMO and it's totally free.

I have been forced to use WS-FTP before. It is very lightweight and does not handle encryption very well which is why we moved to an internally written program. Encryption is my main concern, of which FileZilla covers, but I will see if SmartFTP will fit the bill. Thank you kindly.

I'm with glc -- bulletproof FTP is the best out there. When I need to transfer files remotely, I use FlashFXP as well -- and it's a pretty handy FTP client.

Well, I have seen Kevlar, which is an open source clone of Bulletproof, so I am not paying for anything when it is open source and possibly better done. My complaint is that Bulletproof does not do the encryptions I need. CNET reviews said it did not even do SSL. I think I will stick with FileZilla.
