dvd software
Hello to all. In process now of selecting a dvd rom and would like
to know which decoder software is best to use. Some dvd units include WinDvd while others include PowerDvd with there drives. Any opinions please? thanks, God Bless, Robert |

I like both of those. They are what I use.

I don't think there is much difference between the two. I use WinDVD and it sticks a picture on the screen and puts out audio through the speakers. That's all DVD software has to do, so I have no complaints.

I use power dvd, and it is outstanding. I have an ati video card and they have a dvd player bundled in with their software. You can notice a definite improvement in picture quality using power dvd over the ati program.

i recomend powerdvd. i have both on my computer but powerdvd is by far the best. more options and better picture. and this is with a 32mb videocard. the picture is almost as good as a $120 dvd players. imagine if i had a 64 or 128 videocard.

I have used the ATI DVD player, WIN DVD and Interactual DVD. They've all done a good job with ATI my preference.
You can get Interactual for free, and PowerDVD and WinDVD you buy ( if I remember glc's post correctly PowerDVD is available for $6.00 from www.newegg.com ). ATI has a hardware decoder and what you need comes with the card. |

PowerDVD must be the best, everyone tha has it seems to like it. I use WinDVD because it came with my drive and it works fine. Windows Media PLayer for XP also plays DVD's.
