Links

I must have downloaded a windows service update or something, but hyperlinks in programs don't work. For example, when I click on a link in Outlook it asks me to save the link as an .exe. Does anyone know the fix for this?

Do a virus scan.

I had to troubleshoot this so I guess I'll explain what I did? I don't know what caused the hyperlinks to stop functioning, but this is how I fixed it:

1) Did a virus scan like glc suggested. No viruses.

2) Inserted a hyperlink in a Microsoft Word document, held Ctrl key and clicked the link. Word gave me a "no program to open this link" error. Same when I tried it in Outlook XP

3) Wanted to see if windows would open my link

a. Went to Start -> Run.
b. Typed in http://www.pcmech.com
c. Clicked OK and received a could not open website error.

5. I tried resetting my web settings and that did the trick. Hyperlinks are now working again.

a. Opened IE
b. Went to Tools -> Options.
c. On the Programs tab -> "Reset Web Settings"

One question off the subject: How do you get "Originally posted by ...." when you quote somebody? I never get that to show up.
