CadStd... WOW!

Hello all,

A few days ago, I was looking for a CAD program to help me design a new entertainment center.

Well, I found this great little program called "CadStd". There's a "Lite" version available as freeware and a "Pro" version available for $25US. Go to www.cadstd.com to download the Lite version and try it out!

Here's a pic of the plans I created using this great program.

I tried sketching the plane for the house I have in mind but I was unable to use the program. I had a hard time trying to move the squares and sizing them. Is a tutorial available or something. The help included with the program wasn't of much help.

Roger,

Thanks... Now I have to learn wood working so I can build it. A friend of mine has all the tools and he's gonna show me how it's done.

The nice thing about builiding your own furniture is the cost, it's gonna cost around $300US to build using oak vaneer plywood and solid oak trim. If I purchased it already built, an entertainment center of that size would cost nearly $1500US. Now I can use the money I save to build a new PC!

Edit: Typos!

Nuclear Krusader,

The tuturial is available with the pro version only. If you need to move something, try this:
  1. From the "Edit" menu, click "Move". Or you can click on the "Green Van" icon on the right side of the screen under "Edit Options".
  2. You'll notice "Move : Select Entries" displayed on the bottom left hand corner of your screen. Select the object you'd like to move.
  3. Right click.
  4. Now, you'll notice "Move : From?" displayed on the bottom left hand corner of your screen. Pick a corner of the box you'd like to move (or grid point on the object).
  5. Left click.
  6. Now, you'll notice "Move : To? displayed on the bottom left hand corner of your screen. Pick a grid point where you'd like to move the object to.
  7. Left click. Your object is moved.
  8. Right click to "Unselect" your object.
Remember, when moving an object, the grid point you select as "Move : From?" will move to the grid point you select as "Move : To?".

Try moving some objects then go to the "Edit" menu and click "Scale" to resize an object. Or click on the "-/+ Blue/White Triangle" icon on the right side of the screen under "Edit Options".

If you need me to talk you through some of this, I can send you my telephone number in a PM and you can call me!

HTH
