Play mp3s on CD player???
Okay guys, so I have my favorite songs downloaded onto my computer (via kazzaLite) now thats great and I can listen to my music on my computer but is there a way that I can burn these tracks to a CD for playing in a normal CD player (not an mp3 player) Is there some software available to download so that I can do this. I have easy CD creator and Direct CD but I dont think I can do this. Is there any free software that I can download or do I have to buy a special program. I have never downloaded music before and I hadn't thought about this aspect.

You dont need anything more then you already have. Using Easy CD Creator, and your CD burner, you will be able to burn the songs to a blank CDR. You do not need to change the format of the music, mp3s will burn and play on a CDR. When you use Easy Cd Creator, make sure you choose the option "Audio CD" and not Data CD. If your unsure of how to use Easy CD Creator, consult the manual or read the Help files in the program itself.

Hi there, NeedHelp...
If you are looking to make CD's to play on standard CD players (like your stereo or in your car), I think you may likely have to convert the mp3 files to .wav format. Only newer stereo equipment will play mp3's directly from a CD. Easy CD Creator only burns what you tell it, but I don't think it changes file formats for you. Programs such as MusicMatch Jukebox (about $25 at their website) have options for you to change CD tracks into mp3's and vice versa. Once your music is in .wav format, then use Easy CD Creator to select those tracks for an Audio CD. You'll be able to fit 12-15 songs on a standard CD-R. Be sure not to use a CD-RW, as these often won't play in stereo equipment correctly. Good Luck! |

Agreed, you will have to make an "audio CD", not a whole lot of MP3s on a disc. Your burner should have software for burning, most of which is designed so no-one can mess up.

mp3 to wav.
My NTI burning program has a mp3 to wav. converter with it
but I have gone to CNET. and downloaded a mp3 to wav. freeware and some shareware in the past and tried it also But when you burn wav files to the Cd you can only do it once , so convert them all and burn them at once. |

Open Easy CD, and select create audio CD. then add your MP3's click record. It will convert the MP3's to Wav and burn them to the disk. and will be fully usable on an ordinary CD player.

There is no need to convert mp3's to wav before burning!!! The popular burning programs (EZ-CD, Nero....) have the ability to convert from most any popular music format directly to cda -- nothing is converted to wav format. Just select audio CD from the creation menu/wizard and drop and drag files (mp3, wav, wma, ogg.....).

I tried with Easy CD to burn my mp3s to CD but when I opened the folder where my mp3 fires were through Easy CD, It showed no files in the Easy CD window for me to drag or add to the list of songs I wanted to burn. It would appear that Easy CD does not recognise mp3 files as such. It did recognise my WAV files that I have stored in another folder but as I said, it did not recognise my mp3 files in my other folder. I checked to make sure my mp3s were all intact in the folder by going directly to the folder in Windows Explorer and they are all there they just dont show up in Easy CD

What version EZ CD are you using? You need 4.x or newer.

Hi glc, how do I find out what version I have. It self installed when I installed the software for my burner. It came without any manuals on the Easy CD. On the installation disk that I have for the burner (HP) it doesnt mention on the cover anything about Easy CD software it just installs it along with the software for the burner.

It probbably is Easy CD(or whatever they are calling it) if it came with an HP burner.
Whatever it is, if it is installed and working, you should be able to burn audio CDs. Logan |

Need Help,
I have EZ CD Creator 3.5. It does not recognize mp3 files as you said. It has to see the .wav files in order to convert them to an audio CD. If you click on Help on the EZ tool bar, then click on About..., it should tell you your version number. Mine also has the ver. number on the intro screen when loading. At any rate, if you have the 3.x ver., you'll need to convert the mp3's to .wav's with some outside program. There are prob. shareware programs out there that do a good job, but as I said, MusicMatch has worked great for me. It is fairly inexpensive, and it is a great desktop player. Have fun! |

Thanks Colonel I dont have any trouble burning CD to CD or dropping or dragging WAV files, it is just the mp3s.
Kov_Ice thanks for that, Yes it is 3.5 and as you say it needs a converter to convert mp3s to WAV files so that I can burn them to CD. Thanks RobD. I went to the site you suggested and MusicMatch is only to use free for a week but I located a free mp3-WAV converter at [url]www.mthreedev.com the file is called "setup.3toWAV" you also have to install Visual Basic 6 from the same site for the program to run its called "VBrun60sp5.exe" also OCX files called " setupocxfiles.exe" The files are all on the same site and is quite clearly explained. Not hard to do. I have already tried the prog and it seems to work fine, no hang ups so far. Very simple and quick to use. Thanks everyone once again. Your advice has really helped me on this one.
