New CDs, Nero error

I have recently bought a new pack of CD-Rs from www.dabs.com

They cost about £12 for 50 on a spindle (good value). Previous CDs I have bought from the company for the same price have been superb.

These however appear to be a different brand: 'Tridata' I believe (but the 'T' is a symbol which is hard to make out so it may not be a 'T')

Whenever I try to burn anything with the new CDs I get the Nero error message when I insert the disc to burn onto "There has been a possible read error during the operation which may result in a defective write, do you wish to continue" (Yes/No)

I click yes and it seems to burn without incident (only a slight pause around 17% of burning - my BURNProof drive sorts it out though)

The CD seems to work fine afterwards.

Would you say that the discs were faulty? Should I mention it to the manufacturers or the resellers?

Thanks,

The Ridata CD-Rs are made by Ritek. Dunno about their quality, but if other CD-R work fine I'd either upgrade the drive's firmware (sometimes it increases compatibility with newer media) or if this doesn't help use other media.

Thanks RJ

I'm looking for a firmware update at the moment, My drive is a Lite-On 12101B

Anybody else have information on the "Ridata" CD-Rs?

Thanks,

I haven't heard of them but there a few free programs that will identify CDR's. I can't think of the name of the one I use and I'm not near that machine. It helps when tracking down problems to know who made the disc.
