Anyoine know of a good software package preferably free to download if not to buy
I want to dial up my fathers pc and be able to control it over the phone he lives a few miles away and needs some assistance sometimes and thought this could save a few journeys David

WinVNC cannot dial another computer - it's strictly TCP/IP remote control software. If his machine is Win9x, you can make it a dialup networking server - or you can have him connect to the Internet and you do the same - and then you can run a remote control session.
If you need something that can do it all, Symantec PCAnywhere is what you need, but it's a bit pricey. |

Won't NetMeeting allow for remote user control? Just set up your system as glc said and use NetMeeting which is free from M$.
Otherwise, PCAnywhere is the most logical choice -- Back Office is abit over kill I'd think. -Craig |

PC Anywhere works well but is far from free.

Yep,
P C Anywhere is good, use it on a daily basis but it ain't cheap over here. Ver 10.5 retails for $300 in some shops. |
