Scanning into Word 2000

Let me start this by saying that I’m fairly new to all this, so please don’t become annoyed if my question seems a little dumb. I’d like to know how to scan a document such as (but not limited to) an employment application into Microsoft Word 2000 with my HP3000 scanner and still be able to edit it, such as filling in appropriate lines or adding data to it, without using OCR to convert it. I want to scan the image intact.
Thanks
Bill

I don't know of any way to do this without using OCR. The OCR that ships with consumer grade scanners is pretty basic and the results are not good except on fairly simple documents that have minimal formatting. You need a "professional" software package like Omni Page Pro to handle complex documents.

I don't think there is a way without using some sort of OCR software. Any other way you are basically just taking a picture of it. The better OCR products generally do a great job, the freebies are a waste of time in my experience.

Hi bblb4,

Welcome to PC Mechanic !!!!

I also don't know a way to do it as I think you want to, and that is simply time in the info. There is actually a way, however, but it will probably be more hassle than it's worth. That is to edit you scan in a graphics program such as Paint Shop Pro and enter the text graphics. This will quickly become old and tedious for filling in forms.

A simpler way would be to create you own form or template in Word and just fill it in.

HTH
