because of there's only $600 to spend, my suggestion goes to:
Proc : Celeron Willamate 1,6ghz (is this available?) Mobo : Asus P4B533 or Gigabyte GA-8IHXP or any of SiS645, SiS648 and any of SiS RDRam series AGP : Gigabyte ATi Radeon 9000Pro 64DDR (some folks say it's better when it used by designers instead of 3d gaming) *is this above a GF4Ti4400 128DDR?* RAM : RDram PC800/1066 Apacer 256MB or DDR PC2100 Apacer 256MB HD : Seagate Baracuda IV 7200 40G but i still haven't found a suitable 32x-48x CDRW which supports CAV and Mt.Rainier |

The budget is only $600???!!!?!?!!! Maya by itself is $2000. Shoot, even the education price is $1400.

I think the 600 is with respect to the hardware. And, there is a free Maya that just watermarks your renderings, I believe.
