Question Image to Document Converter?

I'm looking for a program that can take scanned documents (images) and convert them into an editable .doc file. Anyone know of any??
I've checked download.com, but they don't have what I'm looking for... *SIGH*

What you are looking for is Optical Character Recognition (OCR). Do a search on that and you will find some utilities.

Most scanners come with a very basic OCR software, but to do it right you need Omni Page Pro, which is commercial software.

The versions of OCR software that come with scanners can be very frustrating to use. It would almost be faster to recreate the document.
Omni Page Pro does do a good job and is worth the money.
