norton stopping

just recently, when i run norton anti virus,it gets about half way through, when a pop up appears saying there is a problem, norton will stop, and do you want to send an error report to microsoft!! has anyone else had this ????

Is that WinXP you are using? I assume so. If so, then Norton is crashing, but XP is more polite than its older siblings when it comes to tell u the app is crashing: you are just seeing the new GPF notification.

If you have been using P2P sharing services such as KaZaa it may have damaged the NOrton AV program. I had a computer that this happened to running at a business. In that case it was spyware that had loaded via KaZaa and then wrecked Norton and the IP settings. So do a spyware check with SpyBot Search and Destroy (www.lurkhere.com) and then uninstall and reinstall Norton. Remember after you uninstall Norton you will have to remove the folders from Progams on "C" and the Common Files labeled Symantec. Additionally you should run RegCleaner from www.jv16.org and delete all Norton/Symantec references in the program screen.

cheers morris, ill do that. incidentally, i have no kazaa or anything like that installed, but ill do what u say, thanx again mate.
