Hi tritanium

It stands for "Musical Instrument Digital Interface" - you can plug your electronic keyboard synthesizer, for example into this connector/interface that is usually on your sound card or integrated onto your motherboard. Some gaming controllers use this interface for steering wheels, joysticks, etc. For more info: here's the web encyclopedia article, which has lot of information available from the links at the bottom of the page:
