Word Header
ok, so i designed this template in word. it's for my company's newsletter.
you can see pictures of my problem here. i put the name and title of the newsletter in the header section. i used a table to accomplish that. the first line of text that is typed on the normal document (outside of the header) goes in just fine, until i either save or print the document. then, the first line of text copies itself and appends it to the header! it's annyoing as hell. i tried putting a continous break in the first line, but that did nothing. does anyone have any ideas at all? thanks in advance.

Strange. I could print it as it was s'posed to be. Everything remained in its proper place. What version of Word are you using?
I tried it in Word 97.

I am probably the worst person when it comes to the M$ Suite. I use 602Pro PCSuite (100% M$ compatible), and it's free. Now that I have got the plug in for 602Pro.
I noticed that when I brought up a print preview and had a side by side comparison of the print preview & the doc itself. I saw like a floating text area that extended along the left side of the doc. And it's width corresponded to what looked like the area you were having problems with in your doc. Did I make any sense. The text box I seen in the print preview overlapped into your TITLE area, there thats the short version. 990 to go Last edited by FarOut; 11-10-2002 at 01:08 PM. |

thanks guys.
it's using office 2000 professional. FarOut, how could you tell the text was wrapping into the title? did it completely skip over the date and everything else there? |

Like I said Homer, you are talking to a person that does not even consider himself as a novice in Word.
What I seen in my "Print Preview" was what I would call a Text box that was extending into the "Title" area. The text box was rectangular with the length running vertical along the left side of the document. With the split screen showing me the actual document the way it would be under normal editing mode. And the other half of the screen showing me the "Print Preview. When I would type something in the text box it would start appearing in the "Title" area of the Print Preview" screen. In close proximity as to where you showed the type appearing in your Title area on your screen examples. |

Homer, are you highlighting & typing over the [title] field? The field you inserted is a merge field that takes the name from the title in summary (File, Properties, Summary Tab). When you type in a the first line, it automatically gets saved as the title.
To remove the merge field, go to tools, options, & under the "view" tab, third column, first check at the top (field codes), check it. Then you can see the field to delete it (you can leave the [title] there so you know where to type your title. Hope this makes sense! Cheryl |
