You might get more help in the Software forum. But a quick look at the Knowledge Base over at Microsoft came up with an article that points to some controls working on some titles and not on others. Here's the article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;306698 You can try to see if the controls don't work with all your DVD titles. Did it work previously with these same titles? I wish I could help you more, but I tend to use WinDVD for most of my DVD playback. Perhaps another tech with more MS Media Player experience will help soon. . . . Gary |

Some movie formats don't have true timecode -- that's one way high compression codecs like DivX, Xvid and others keep files sizes small -- they remove time code. Without time code, Media Player and other such players cannot fastforward.
