Sound problems in games?

I had just reformatted my hard drive, due to a virus. i have all the driverd installed, and the sound device is using IRQ 5 all by itself. Now when i go into play Nascar 2002, the sound is all cracking, and my framerates went down hill. I am using the 28.32 video drivers, same as before. i am wondering if the Latest Via 4N1 drivers are to blame? And if an older version would correct this problem? I am running an Iwill motherboard with the raid controller a 1gig tbird with 512 meg of ram, and a MSI g force3 TI500 card.

Problem solved!! I am running 98SE, it is a KK266R mobo. I just reinstalled the iwill drivers, and all is well? My frame rates came back to where they should be also.
