Disappearing Windows Media Player??
Not sure what I did to cause this but what happens is I'll be using WMP just fine, sometimes for hours and then I'll come back hours later or the next day and it's no longer accessible. The icon is still there on the desktop and in the tray on the bottom left but nothing happens when I click on either icon. It won't link even when I go to programs and click on it that way either.
What's weird is if I restart the computer, it all comes back again like nothing was wrong with all my previously made up song lists and such but sure enough the next day, it won't link again and I'll have to reboot once more to get it back. What gives and how do I get this to stop? |

Hit ctrl/alt/del and look in the tasklist - it may already be running, and it may have more than one instance running. If it is, end task on all instances and then try to start it. I've seen this happen with Netscape so it's possible this is what's going on.

BINGO ! That was it. Your solution worked. Thanks. That's certainly better than having to reboot each time but the question still remains as to what in the world makes it run when I'm away from the PC and not using it?

I can only guess - because I still have 6.4 - but it may be checking for updates or it may be in your startup, have you checked the program preferences and the startup tab in msconfig?
