Burning a Data CD??
Howdy everyone,
I've been having a strange problem with burning a folder at work under NT. I have a folder which contains several sub-folders with documents included in the sub-folders. When I attempt to burn the main folder (including the sub-folders & documents) to a CD-R, everything gets copied/burned to the CD-R except for one particular folder. This folder itself is copied/burned but none of the documents inside. I've checked the file attributes for every file in this folder and the only item checked is Archive. I un-checked the "Archive" attribute for every file and they're still not copied/burned to the CD-R. I've attempted to burn this one particular folder by itself and again none of the documents inside are copied/burned to the CD-R. Also, the entire main folder including all sub-folders and all the documents add up to only about 60MB. What am I missing here? ![]() Please help... This is really starting to freak me out! TIA!

Have you tried copying the whole folder to a spot closer to the root? If it's too deep in the tree, your burning program may not be able to see it. I think the limit is 127 characters in a pathname.
Have you tried resetting the attributes in DOS by using: attrib -h -r -s -a *.* and then burning? |

Thanks again George. I knew there was a limit, and it was either 64 or 127...too darn many numbers to remember.
I do know that Nero gave me a warning once about pathname being longer than 127 char's, but that could have been AFTER I selected it to allow a path of more than 8 dirs. |

Thanks for the info guys... One of the file names being too long was one of the problems!
Also, it was the burning software (SimpliCD) work has installed on the workstation I was using. Went to another workstation with a burner using Nero and it copied everything perfectly! Thanks again!
