I have windows XP in Spanish and I have windows XP in English, could I use my Windows XP in Spanish and install it on both computer and just use different serial numbers or would I have to buy another Windows XP in Spanish?
Also if anyone could recommend some good sites where I could buy software.

I'm sure if you read the entire end user liscense agreement it probably isn't cause it pretty much boils down to 1PC per copy, or at least you need the liscense for each PC. Of course in your case you do have 2 liscenses. I would read the EULA or just call Microsoft.

It depends on the cost of the version you are using. We had a guy that worked for us that was from Asia and was working there. He wanted to use a version that was in his Native dialect. We weren't no t able to use our license for him . We had to buy one for substantially more than the English version.
Microsoft is very helpful in trying to find the cheapest way for you to do it, you might just give them a call and see what they say. They win either way, that much I can tell you. |

you can change the language any time you want using the sysprep utility during install. or you can just use the spanish disk. this is fully supported by microsoft and they will even walk you through it on the phone. I'm on the oem site now looking for more info for you.

I contacted MS directly by phone about this same situation for a Chinese student at the university. NO, they do not consider this to be legal. Quote:

But we're talking XP here, it's not that you're gonna necessarily face a criminal charge, but more likely some major installation headaches when it comes to your installation key and activation.

Just an afterthought. This may be possible for me as i'm an OEM system builder, hadn't thought of it before, so I may be wrong as it applys to an end user. If i am then sorry to all others here for the bad info.

So am I and was told that it was definitely NOT legal. Purchasing such licenses are meant for businesses where they already own (in this case, a legal Spanish copy) and wish to add another workstation running the Spanish XP.

It was back in 1996. I was a member of the WinClub and bought from them the Windows 95 update in CD. They sent me the diskette version, in a UPS envelope, with no manual, no key, no nothing.
I called back and they promised me to send me the CD right away. It happened in september and waited for two weeks and nothing. I had to kept calling them almost every week until january, when out of desperation I sent a letter to PC World magazine. (The letter was published in the april 1997 edition of the magazine, btw). PCW must have contacted them coz next day M$ called early in the morning to notify me that the Win95 CD was on its way and they offered me a mouse for all the trouble I had been forced to endure. "What! A mouse?! No way! I want a joystick! A Sidewinder 3D joystick!" So they sent me the joystick which I still use to play Jane's WWII Fighters. |

Microsoft despite their reputation is about the easiest company in the world to deal directly with.
I know for a fact that our license won't work because I am the one that tried to install it on a brand new thinkpad. I had to hire an interpretor just to tell me what it was saying to try to get through the installation. I don't remember the exact total cost but I know I spent some thing $1570. That was for XP Pro and it may have included the license for Office2000 as well. I think that may have been separate though. |

Sorry, not a clue what WWF stands for other than World Wrestling Federation.
Here's an intresting titbit that I got after speaking with Microsoft just this past Friday concerning Microsoft Office XP Pro. If you have this software, you can legally install it on one desktop system and one laptop system, but you cannot install on two desktops, or two laptops similtaneously. In this situation, you install to the desktop and activate it. You then install to the laptop and "attempt" to activate. You will receive the msg that this copy of office has already been activated and that you need to contact Microsoft. This is OK, you do so and explain that you are installing to one desktop and one laptop system and they then provide you with a new activation key to use on your laptop computer. |

Same thing I was thinking... Mabye its a special edition of windows... I was thinking of purchasing this.. Is this a valid license? I have never just purchased just a license so I want to make sure I dont end up paying for a piece a paper that isnt going to help me with nothing... I'm actually thinking of purchasing four... Any help is greatly appreciated... |

I don't what that it is. But considering the price and the fact that I couldn't find anything relating to it on the M$ site I don't think it will be a product key.
Call M$ they will tell you everything you need to know about issues dealing with licenses. |

WWF
After some searching, I have discovered what Microsoft thinks WWF stands for -- Worldwide Fulfillment.
What "Worldwide Fulfillment" stands for exactly isn't clear to me but I'm sure the answer's out there...for anybody who wants to do the research.
