What compression software do you use?
I Prefer Winace as it can handle zip, rar, and ace files. I get the best compression when using ace but if transfering to other comps I use zip for compatibility.
What do you use and why? |

I use the build in zip/unzip feature of Norton Navigator. Why? because that's all I have and it's already there...

I also use WinAce because of the compatibility with various archives (no matter if I get a zip, rar, ace or whatever, I'll be able to open it), good ace compression and also zip compression for compatibility.

WinRAR -- I used to use WinAce, but it started messing with some of my audio and video files -- adding audio artifacts to all the audio. Not good when you're doing that for a living.

Winzip for daily use - I have Winace for opening rar and ace files if I need to.

WinRAR 9. Love the interface, tools and the ease of use.

I think some of the newer names are supposed to work better I am so used to WinZip that's pretty much all I use. Unless I run into something I can't open with it. At least in my field .zip is the defacto standard.

I use WinRAR. I just don't like WinZip's interface.

I've been using Power Archiver for about three years now because I like the interface much better than Winzip. The last freeware version is 6.1. Works with many formats-.zip .rar .cab and many others that I've never used. Good shell extensions.

For most intents and purposes I use tar.gz .. its compression is comparable to or superior to most that ive seen for the windows platform.
for windows I usually use ace - again superior compression and speed. often times an SFX'd ace is smaller than a .zip |

Winzip here, don't see the need to change, not yet anyway.
