Video encoders, which are some good ones.
What are some good video encoders going from various media sources to various destinations. Such as real/quicktime/mpeg/avi to MPEG 1 or video cd format; real/quicktime/mpeg/avi to MPEG 2 or super video cd format; any format to high end Divx.

Hi,
for MPEG-1/MPEG-2 Encoding TMPGEnc is a very good choice. You can get it from www.tmpgenc.net , it is a freeware MPEG-1 encoder. It also has MPEG-2 encoding capabilities, but only as a trial, unless you pay $49, then you get a serial to unlock TMPGEnc's MPEG-2 encoding capabilities. You can convert any source to MPEG-1/MPEG-2 that you can playback on your PC. RJ

I'll second RJ -- TMPGEnc is very good -- and you can't beat free.
The best encoder on the market (IMHO), would be Discreet's Cleaner. It will convert any format to just about any other format as well as maximize and clean up an existing encoded file. But at $600, it's not for the everyday user -- it's a profesisonal tool. -Craig |

Hi All,
A friend at work plays with ShockWave. Is there anything that converts these to other formats? TwoRails |
