Burning without cue

I am contemplating writing my own cue, simulating the burn, modifying the cue, and repeating until it works, but that seems rather time consuming.

I am sure someone has done this before. Suggestions?

Respectfully,

Demosthenes

Just select the .bin file with Nero and a format window will automatically popup. You'll have three basic choices: Mode 1 2048 or 2352 or Mode 2 (automatically 2352). Select DAO and then just simulate the burn and see what happens.

Just an FYI: If this is a video file (VCD/SVCD in .bin format) it's almost a guarantee that it's Mode 1/2352. Most software ISO's are Mode 1/2048. And most audio CD's that have been formatted as a .bin are Mode 2.

Craig, where did you learn all this arcane stuff? It never ceases to amaze me how little I know about digital audio, especially when I read yet another of your enlightening posts.

'boot, I really don't know. I guess when you deal with it everyday, it just get's imbedded. I'll work on one project and ftp it to an associate and I invariably forget the .cue file on the ftp. Or I'll work on another and it's just second nature to select mode 2 for anything video....like I said, it's just imbedded someplace deep in my grey matter.

Heck, I just finished the surround mix Sunday for a new Tony Hawk Redline DVD and did exactly that -- forgot to upload the .cue file. So the editor over at Redline went through a few CD-R's trying to figure out which format I used -- he could have just e-mailed or called, but he tried to guess (should have gone with Mode 2 BTW since it was basic CD tracks).

Anyway -- there are times you post things regarding modems or the Windows registy that has me scratching my head.

Thanks audiyoda.

It was a homespun data CD of the source for a current project, which turned out to be Mode 1 2352.

Nero said something about block size, before burning it to its nicely proprietary nrg format, but what do the different block sizes and modes do and what are the advantages of using different ones? I never thought much about opticals.

Respectfully,

Demosthenes
