P2P File Sharing
Hello everybody,
I am looking for a good Music sharing program. Some program that will let me find the song that I am looking for. Also, I am looking for a program that does not contain spyware like KAZAA does. Anybody got any programs in mind? I am also on a network, so some programs will have trouble running. I notice when I used WINMX, I had to use secondary connection instead of primary connection.. Anybody got any ideas? |

WinMX, Shareaza, Ares, XoloX and Kazaa Lite all come to mind. You can get more info on them at ZeroPaid.
And it's quite normal to use a secondary connection with WinMX -- it won't hurt your speeds but it will slightly delay your connection to the network and will slightly slow down a search. I use WinMX exclusively because it's by far the largest OpenNap P2P network -- and I use a secondary connection because I don't want to configure my router soley around one program. -Craig Last edited by audiyoda; 12-18-2002 at 07:58 AM. |

Read my post about P2P programs.
I'm going to try Shareaza today, and I'll post back any results. I have found that XoloX and Ares are difficult to configure, WinMX would be my next choice, but overall kazaalite is easiest, especially if you have a router. |

But you need to pay for KAZAALITE..but also does WINMX include the spyware? Reboot, let me know how Shareaza woworks.
Just went to Kazaalite.com and their main site is down. It doesn't say anywhere that you pay a monthly fee to use it. I am wondering what version to download from kazaalite.com? Reboot, I have the LINKSYS DSL/CABLE router with built in 5 port hub. The software didn't come with a utilities where I can open up certain ports..where would I do that at? You don't use software to forward ports - you use the router admin page, it's in Advanced. Use the help system in the router admin, it's pretty good.
