Question about ZoneAlarm
Hi,
I've been using ZoneAlarm for a long time now (Win 98SE) without a problem but today it is being a pain in the butt. In the past, when I boot up, except for a brief appearance on the desktop, the main ZoneAlarm panel has stayed out of the way in its little spot down on the taskbar, but I just installed it in a new build and now when I boot up, the main ZoneAlarm panel plops itself right in the middle of the desktop and I have to minimize it or send it to the taskbar myself. I cannot find a way to make ZoneAlarm start out in the taskbar from the boot-up so I don't have to send it to the taskbar each time. Anyone know how? Having that panel in the way each time I boot is very annoying. Thanks, Crank |

Have you checked in the preferences if there was anything that might need to be checked/unchecked? HTH

Floppyman has the answer. Unchecking Always on Top should do it.

I unchecked Always on Top but that didn't make any difference. I've been using Zonealarm for a long time on three computers and never had this problem before. I have Always on Top checked on the others. Maybe it has something to do with this MOBO or the P4 CPU----I can't figure it out. This is a new build. I guess I'll just have to send the ZoneAlarm panel to the taskbar myself each time I boot up. Thanks anyhow. Crank

That's the only switch I can find that would even come close to matching the problem. The only other thing I can think of is: was ZA installed on top of another ZA install? I've always had weird things happen installing over an install and have always had to uninstall it first....

It was a fresh install in a new build-----not the latest ZoneAlarm though. I guess I should download the latest free revision. Aren't computers wonderful----always some wierd thing going that stretches your brain. Maybe stretching your brain helps a person to avoid Alzheimer's. If that's true, I guess its worth the aggravation. Crank
