Roxio Prob????

ok I know i did this somehow im a Newbie and some how was trying to burn a cd for a friend of a folder and now my cd-burner is locked shut????? well not really locked but says is being used by Roxio cd kernel??????? thnks you guys rock and im sure that someone will have something for me

That it has something to do with me with me formating it first?????

Hi CBR,

Is there anything by roxio running? Check with the ctrl-alt-del keypress. If not, just shut down the system, and use a paper clip thru the little hole in the front of the CD drive to open it up and remove the CD. Try again, and post the results.

Rebooting will usually unlock the drive - reboot into safe mode if it's still locked.

No need to format cdr's - formatting is for cd-rewritables to use them like a giant floppy disk.

Just open the case and unplug the power cable going to the cd-rom drive and then replug it.... i had this problem and for some reason just powering down the system did not work for me....

Please let us know how you make out.... thanks

No, do not unplug and replug the power cable to the drive or any other components while the computer is powered on! This is not a good thing to do.

I do not see anywhere here that says to unplug and plug things with the power on.... someone must have read the posts wrong....

That was just a safety precaution.... Some people do take things quite literally, and a lot of people read threads that don't post to them.
