CD Brand Recommendation?
I'm having problems writing to Memorex CD-RW disks, and I think it may be a problems with the CD's rather than the CD drive or the software. My main objective is to back up files on CD's. I have tried three back up programs and the same thing happens on all three. Some CD's work fine and some don't. I've done "total erases" on the CD's but that doen't help. The CD burner software is Roxio SimpleCD creator. The drive is HLDS, model GCE-8400B, in a DEll. I'm using 4X Memorex CD-RW's.

I find it hard to believe that Memorex CDRW's are your problem, but Verbatim and Fuji are both good CDR's an RW's.

Thanks for your quick response. Well, if the CD's are not the problem, how do I go about isolating the source of the problem. Maybe it's the Roxio software that came with the DELL. It's a basic program and the upgrade is more than I want to pay. Any suggestions for a reliable, decently priced (preferably free) software to burn CD-RW's?

I have 2x LG8400b CD Writers, using with Nero & ECDC & Clone CD on XP/ME, basically this writer (as are all LG's) write to any media. I use the Memorex 10x CD-RW disc's on a day to day basis and have never had any problems with them. Have not used the the 4x ones though.
Are you using Direct CD (drag & drop) or Easy CD Creator ? |
