Virus???
For couple of days, when I open a folder, these 2 files are automatically copied to that foler: desktop.ini and folder.htt
I searched the system to delete them all. Then it is OK for that session. However, when I log on at the next session the same thing happens again. I have activate virus protection on the Asus motherboard and have McAfee Viruscan 6.0 installed. It only happens when I use Win 2000 and not when Win 98 is on. I also have Office 2000 and Frontpage 2000 on the computer.

Those are normal Win2000 files, not viruses or any kind of malware. I think they have something to do with the indexing service.

Thanks GLC,
I realized some of those files are normal system files. However, the ones I was talking about were automatically copied in the folder every time after I opened it, including folders in removable drives. The problem was elliminated after I deleted all the files in the temporary internet folders. Something copied from the internet must have caused this annoying automatic copying of some system files. Anyway I think I got rid of it. |
