Thumbs up Opera 7 beta2 relased!

Check it out... www.opera.com

I just installed it. It's improved a little bit (ie: the tables inside a thread now line up), plus a few more eye-candy effects have been added.

force_flow2002,

Do you have to uninstall the old version first?

It didn't say, but I just installed it overtop Opera 7 beta1. All the bookmarks stayed, that was the important thing. If you want to backup your bookmark file, it's called "opera6.adr".

Just one thing though, for the Java version: when it comes to the part where java will be installed, all it says is "uninstall" and "cancel". I chose cancel. Again, this is only if you're upgrading from 7 beta1. Both betas use the same java plug-in.

force_flow2002,

I'm using 6.05 and not worried about Bookmarks. I'll just import them from IE.
Thanks for the heads up about Java, I already have it installed so I'll click cancel too.

Is it noticeably faster, or just "prettier"? Thanks.

Floppy,
It is faster and looks the same. For me, noticeably faster.

Thanks Carl. I'll probably give it a try once the final version it out.

It's noticably faster, as Kubie said. That's great for someone who has dial-up like I do.

One feature I noticed, which was removed: You can no longer save web pages as html files; only as *.txt files.

I tried Opera a couple years ago but I didn't like the way it handles bookmarks. Has that been improved?

Well, I didn't use it a few years ago. The first version I used was Opera 5, then 6, and now 7.

Anyway, I think it handles bookmarks fine. Not quite like IE, but still easy.

The bookmark file was more like a text file but now that I think about it, the browser may not have been Opera. I can't remember for sure what browser it was. If Opera is faster than IE, I think I'll try it. What does it cost?

It's free, but you have a little ad window up in the right corner. If you were to buy it I think the ads go away. HTH
