Good video editing program?

Hi all,

Can anybody let me know of some good video (mpeg, avi, wmv)editing programs?

I need something that I can use to add titles, effects, etc. to my videos, but something that is not overpriced.

Thanks lots!

Hi,

On the top end of things would be Adobe's Premiere software. Pinnacle also makes some decent software, that's not as high priced. Check out Pinnacle Studio Version 8. HTH

imovie is great to start with, if you use a mac. If not, I think there's something that comes with winXP.

Final Cut Express just got released for the mac, and at $299 it's a steal.

And i-movie is real good. Version 3 just got released too and has a lot of added features. In fact, part of blood bath is being edited with i-movie.

Yep, Mainly i use premier 6.0 on the PC and final cut pro on the Mac, but there is still a place for the free ones like i-movie. And according to the reviews, windows movie maker 2 looks like it'll be pretty good. But just to have a few extra licences you cant beat final cut express at $299. Sure beats $1000 for pro and has most of the funtionality.

As for PC-noob. if you can spend the money get premier, if not try pinnacle studio.

Yeah, if you're serious about editing, you should get premiere. Adobe products are almost always great.

Btw, doesn't premiere run about $500 now?

yep, $549. They offer a DV package of Premier, After effects photoshop and illustrator for $1249. Expensive but a really good deal. It was on sale for $850 a couple of months ago and that offer may re-appear.

Not bad if you can spare the cash to get the whole package.
