Which software for backing up my kids DVD movies?

My young kids have loads of DVD movies but the problem is with them being young is they don't take care of them. They have about 20 including Shrek, Toy Story and a lot of the Disney films. Problem is they keep scratching them.

I'm buying a Sony DVD burner on Monday and would like to back up all their movies so that their mother won't keep having to go out and buy replacements.

I'd like to know the best software out there for backing up their movies.

Thanks.
