I recently left my pc in to be repaired and when I got it back I found I had to enter manually the password to log on to internet and e-mail . I have gone through the properties of my Dial up networking and e-mail connection and found the place where to stick in the password so I connect automatically but it won't stick. There is another place under security where I should be able to enter the password but the window is blanked out. Can anyone please assist me? |

Is Client for Microsoft Networks installed in your network properties? If not, it should be.

The Internet is a network. Control panel, networks - you need Client for Microsoft Networks, an adapter (dialup adapter if you use a modem to connect, a NIC if you use broadband) and TCP/IP.

By any chance - when Windows starts, is it coming up with a login box - and are you by any chance hitting "cancel"? If so, that's the problem. You have to enter a password (if there is no password, you have to click OK or hit Enter on the keyboard) or change the primary logon to Windows Logon or Microsoft Family Logon in the network preferences.

Check out Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 148925 titled "Dial-Up Networking Password Is Not Saved" to see if the fix listed under "Windows 95 and 98" resolve the problem.
I've fixed this problem just by performing step #5. |
