HP Precision Scan software

Hello,

I need info on where to find the installation software for my scanner (HP ScanJet 5300C), to reinstall the scanner. I've looked on HP's site for drivers and downloads, but non worked. I also tried contacting them, but no luck. I was hoping maybe someone here might know some resource since I have always found solutions to problems here.

Thanks!

Yes, that is exactly what I have downloaded, but when I ran the software it came up with a pop up message that looked like the image I've attached.

I have all cables properly plugged in.

Did you install the software before you connected the scanner or after?

Hi pc_noob,

I love HP's products, but they are finicky when being re-installed. Make sure to dissconnect the scanner, and remove ALL traces of the software, and of couse, reboot.

Then try reinstalling:

1) if you are running the scanner as a parallel port, make sure the scanner is plugged in, hooked up, and turned on before booting. Then install the software.

2) if you are running it as USB, do just the opposite. Make sure the scanner is NOT connected to the computer. Install the software, Then plug it in to the computer.

HTH

Thanks a lot for the help guys,

But it still gives me the same erroer message after doing the steps you told me to.

I uninstalled the software, unplugged the scanner, re-installed, and reconnected the scanner.

Not working however.

Did you try seeing if HP has "manual un-install" instructions at their Web site? Should help if they have it....

Still not working, and I can not find the manual uninstallation instructions on their site.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Isn't the computer automatically suppose to do something when the USB cable is connected? (it does nothing)

Yes, it should come up with the "found new hardware" wizard. Maybe the scanner or cable is bad - or the USB ports aren't working?

Whew...Finally got it to work. Thanks for the help, the problem was that the front USB port did not seem to recognize the scanner, instead I had to connect it in the back. I still don't know why but I'm glad it works.

Thanks for the help!
